Professional Qualification

Dr. Andrea Geling is partner with the Patent and Law firm of Dr. Volker Vossius. Andrea has joined Dr. Volker Vossius
in 2009.

Andrea is admitted before the German Patent and Trademark Office, the German Federal Patent Court, the Office
for Harmonization in the International Market and the European Patent Office.

Andrea is responsible for German, European and international examination proceedings for national and international
clients. She is successful in prosecuting opposition proceedings and nullity suits as well as in preparing patentability
analysis and “Freedom to operate (FTO)” opinions in the fields of biotechnology, molecular biology, biochemistry, genetics,
microbiology and medical technology.

In addition to that, Andrea has long-term experience in all other areas of industrial property, in particular in the fields
of utility model, trade mark and design.

Andrea studied biotechnology at the Technical University Braunschweig, Germany. She finished her studies with
a Diploma thesis in the Institute of Mammalian Genetics and she did her Ph.D. thesis in the Institute of Developmental
Genetics under Prof. Rudi Balling at the National Research Center of Environment and Health (now Helmholtz Center),
Munich, Germany.

Andrea received an EMBO research fellowship and was a visiting scientist at the SARS international Center for
Marine Molecular Biology in Bergen, Norway.
