Professional Qualification

Dr. Thomas Hettmann is a technical expert in the fields of biochemistry, molecular biology, genetics,
and microbiology.

Thomas' area of practice is drafting and prosecution of German, European, and international patent applications.
Furthermore, he assists the attorneys of Dr. Volker Vossius in opposition, infringement, and nullity proceedings
of German and European patents.

Thomas studied biochemistry at the University Hannover, Germany. He made his master thesis at the Institute
for Human Genetics, Medizinische Hochschule Hannover, Germany, and his Ph.D. thesis in the lab of
Prof. Günter Schäfer at the Institute of Biochemistry, Medical University Lübeck, Germany. The Ph.D was
followed by postdoctoral research in the lab of Prof. Stephan Diekmann at the Institute of Molecular Biotechnology,
Department of Molecular Biology, Jena, Germany.
